New Non-Fiction Book Reveals The Dark Truth About
Slavery
DETROIT, Mich.-The Emancipation Proclamation. The Underground Railroad.
Uncle Tom's Cabin. The history of slavery in the United States has always
centered on the mistreatment and destruction of the African-American
people. While it is true they were treated horribly, Author Antonio
Harlan says that slavery affected everyone alive then and, indeed, everyone
alive now. From Slavery to Salvation (now available through 1stBooks
Library) is an examination of the long-lasting effects of slavery on
people of all races.
From Slavery to Salvation is more than just a book on enslavement.
Digging into the diabolical handiwork that surrounded this dark time
in American history, Harlan says the true cause of slavery is simple
- the work of Satan as he uses all races to destroy each other. With
the ultimate goal of destroying what God has deemed good, Satan was
hard at work fraying the fragile chords that link humanity together.
Both controversial and powerful, From Slavery to Salvation spends a
great deal of time examining how slavery has negatively impacted all
races of people. Other fascinating topics covered in From Slavery to
Salvation include slavery's effects on Caucasian men, women, and children,
drugs and social attitudes, the NBA and higher education as slave environments,
and interracial relationships.
From Slavery to Salvation, however, is also about the need for a life-changing
relationship with Jesus Christ. According to the book, once a person
has made the commitment to live one's life entirely for God, circumstances
will change and life will get better.
Author Antonio Harlan was born and raised in Detroit, Mich. He is an
associate minister in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World and an
employee of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Harlan holds a master's in
communication and is the co-host of "Valley Walkers Ministry,"
a live broadcast on WCHB AM 1200.
From Slavery to Salvation is Harlan's first book.
About Author Antonio Harlan
Antonio Harlan was born April 12, 1971 in Detroit, Michigan. He is
the middle son of Robert Harlan, the oldest (patent attorney) and Andre
Harlan, youngest (middle school gym teacher). Antonio began working
in the Ministry at an early age. He attended Oak Grove A.M.E. church
with his grandmother until graduating from high school, where he was
the class president. Antonio received much of his ministerial teachings
from Greater Grace Temple in Detroit, MI. Although called to preach,
he labored in the Drama ministry, Youth Home ministry and Men’s
choir.
In 1994 Antonio’s life began to hit rock bottom. Antonio was
without shelter, clothing and food. Later that year Antonio saw an old
friend who had heard of Antonio’s situation. The gentleman told
Antonio that he could move into an apartment building that he was managing
and not have to worry about rent, lights or gas bills. Antonio moved
into the apartment and life was starting to look hopeful.
The apartment building was close to the Detroit River where Antonio
spent most of his time. One Early morning in the summer of 1995, Antonio
decided to attend college. The fall of 1995 Antonio attended Eastern
Michigan University (EMU).
The first semester at EMU was really rough for Antonio. This was the
first time Antonio reflected over the past two years of his life. He
would look in the mirror three times a day and repeat the words, “I
love you.” There were many tears that Antonio cried but he believed
that life still would allow him a road to pave.
Antonio joined Messias Temple Church in Ypsilanti, where he received
his ministerial license and delivered his first message centered around,
“From Slavery to Salvation.” Antonio graduated from EMU
in 1998 with a bachelor in psychology. Antonio tried to interview with
other companies but no positions had Antonio’s name on it.
Antonio decided to go back to school for his Masters Degree. While
sleeping in the summer of 2000, Antonio was awakened by the Spirit of
God. God told Antonio to go to the computer. While waiting for instructions
from God at the computer, Antonio suddenly appeared at the plantation
of slavery. Antonio began to type what he saw. God later showed Antonio
the plan of Satan and how it is happening today. Every morning from
that day at 2:30am or 5:30am Antonio was awaken to complete the work.
Three years later, “From Slavery to Salvation” is available.
Antonio completed his Masters and Bachelors in four years.
The first book signing happened in January 2003 at Fellowship Chapel
Church in Detroit, where Reverend Windell Anthony is the Pastor.
