WHAT: Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound™, the premier gospel singing competition, will have Detroit-area residents rejoicing when the tour comes to search for the “Best Church Choir in Detroit.” Participating choirs will compete for the title, up to $16,000, prizes, and the opportunity to participate in Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound grand finale event in Washington, D.C.

BACKGROUND: Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound gives church choirs the chance to compete for up to $50,000, prizes, and the title, “Best Church Choir in America.” It is much more than a singing competition for choirs – it is an opportunity to celebrate the unique ways that gospel music connects people.
