For the past 30 years if you were a part of the Detroit gospel music community, you spent time at God’s World. Read Carl B. Phillips' in-depth interview with God's World owner, Larry Robinson, and hear in his own words why he "needs you to survive."

The column that I write for DetroitGospel.com is named Jubal’s Joint. This was taken from Genesis 4:20-21. For the past 32 years I have had the pleasure of being the Jubal to a modern day Jabal, Bishop Carl E. Holland, Presiding Prelate of the Pentecostal Assembly of Believers. I recently talked to Bishop Holland about his ministry and the PAB Convention being held in Detroit, July 6 – July 10. Click below for the full interview

In my years of being a part of the Detroit Gospel Music community, I’ve attended many recording sessions. Eric Deon’s “Live In Worship” is one of the best recording sessions that I’ve had an opportunity to witness in this city in a long time.

Since joining DetroitGospel.com I’ve wanted to create a theme song for the website. So I called a few friends to produce a new DetroitGospel.com theme... I wanted a joint with fresh beats, a fresh sound, and fresh vocals.

We the staff of DetroitGospel.com would like to offer our prayers and condolences to the family of former Detroiter Kayla Parker-Tolbert who passed away this weekend. Kayla was a singer, songwriter, and producer. She wrote songs for Vickie Winans, CeCe Winans, and others. She formerly was a member of Perfecting Church and was the composer and lead singer on "Now Are We" from the CD Introducing Perfected Praise. She was one of the founding members of the group Special Gift. She did backgound vocals on Vicki Winans' last CD and also on CeCe Winans' Purified CD. She had battled cancer for several years.

On a warm sunny day in February, I had the opportunity to watch two of gospel music's top artists record a live TV taping for the Gospel Music Channel's "Front Row Live."

Detroit gospel artist, and former host of WEXL 1340AM's "Joy and Jones In The Morning," Chris Jones, passed away October 8, 2006, from a massive heart attack. Our prayers go out to Chris' family. Chris will be greatly missed.

When Saul felt an evil spirit upon him, he called on the psalmist David to play skillfully on an instrument. A modern day psalmist by the name of Tim Reeves has crafted a new inspirational instrumental CD titled Something Special, with the intent of playing music that will bring rest to a hectic day.
