Q: Why did you start Detroit Gospel.com?
A: Because Detroit is such a gospel entertainment town, we were surprised that there was no comprehensive resource for gospel lovers to go to and find out what was going on in and around the city. Because our business is web design, we thought what a perfect opportunity to use our God-given talents to fill a need in the Christian Community. We believe that we received confirmation that this was a God-inspired idea, and prayed for guidance in implementing it. We continue to pray for direction on a daily basis and that this site will be a blessing to the Body of Christ. Most importantly, we pray that this site will glorify God and His majesty.
Q: Aren't there other websites that provide the same information as Detroit Gospel.com?
A: Yes and No. There are some terrific national gospel websites on the Internet (Gospelflava.com and Gospelcity.com come to mind). However, because these sites are national, they simply can't provide the local coverage of Detroit Gospel.com (including an events calendar, local newsletter, local industry information). There are even some nice local Christian oriented websites (for example thechurchguideofdetroit.com and metrochristian.net), but none of these focus on the gospel music and entertainment scene.
Q: If this is supposed to be your ministry, why do you show advertisers on the site?
A: The time and effort required to produce the site are extensive. The reason we are able to provide the site for free to visitors is because our advertisers cover the expenses associated with producing the site. Our advertising rates are reasonable and we only advertise products and services we believe will be of interest to our Christian visitors.
Q: Are there any plans to create similar gospel music sites for other cities?
A: We have recently launched www.ChicagoGospel.com and www.NewYorkGospel.com and we are currently working on creating similar sites for other cities with a strong gospel music following such as Atlanta and Dallas.
