Calvin J. Golden's Bio

Born and raised in Detroit, MI, Calvin Golden knew from an early age that music would be a major part of his mission. At the age of 13 years old, Calvin had an ear for music and was called upon to help teach the church choir. Although he was only thirteen and the church drummer, his father saw the special talent he possessed and appointed him, minister of music. This opportunity only heightened his passion and love for all façades of music.

As Calvin grew older it was evident that he had a special love and compassion for people. When Calvin became 17 he founded the Shekinah Glory Fellowship Chorale, a group of over 40 individuals. Calvin & Shekinah Glory traveled across the US as well as throughout the cities of Michigan. In 1993, Calvin Golden & the Shekinah Glory Fellowship Chorale competed in the Thorn Apple Valley "Something to Sing About" and placed 1st runner-up. During this time he developed himself as a music and songwriter and in 1997, Calvin wrote "My Soul Is A Witness," which was released on the Peter's Rock Mass Choir album entitled "Over and Over."

In 1999, Calvin lost his mother and only a few years later his sister. This was a very hard time for him. However, the loss fueled his love and passion for God, he gained the strength he needed to push closer to making his mother and sister proud by focusing and pursuing God's will for his life. Now stronger and more dedicated than ever, fully assured that this is his time and season, Calvin reveals his trials, triumphs, passion and love for God through his lyrics and music.

As time passed, Calvin embarked on a solo career with a much smaller background. Calvin has sung background for James Moss, Vanessa Bell-Armstrong, Damita Haddon and Charles Lassiter. He has also sung background and traveled with Deitrick Haddon and was the lead vocalist on two songs on the release entitled, "Supernatural," as well as background vocals on the 2004 V.O.U. All-Stars Edition album, on the song entitled, "My Soul Says Yes." In 2003. Calvin Golden entered the Exalt Him Talent Competition, hosted by Family Christian Bookstores and Daywind Music and was the 1st runner up. Calvin went on to perform on the nationally acclaimed Bobby Jones Gospel show and regularly performs at the Motor City Praise Fest sponsored by McDonald's, Farmer Jacks and Chevrolet. Calvin Golden has shared the stage with Dawkins & Dawkins, May Mary, Virtue, Deitrick Haddon & V.O.U., the Gospel Gangsters, LaShun Pace, Men of Standard, Vicki Winans, James Hall and Worship & Praise, Marvin Sapp, Dottie Peoples, Derrick Starks & Today's Generation, and Fred Hammond.

It is now time for the anointed psalmist to stand on a mainstream level and introduce the world to praise and worship in excellence, and this is his purpose. To deliver the word of God through song full of the power and anointing and the purpose of God in the spirit of excellence. To break barriers and eliminate color lines and help to unite people regardless of race, background or class.

The unique combination of anointing, coupled with talent and a style that is our own has defined Calvin Golden & Shekinah as one of the premiere performers of the 21st century.

Estella Chambers' Bio

Photos By: Phillip T. Rhodes, Digital Images, LLC, Detroit, MI

There are so many singers in the world that are gifted by God and mature in their calling that she makes no great claims or predictions of how this CD will soar. She told the Father that through all she’d been through if He’d let her live she would sing songs that will glorify Him. He knew her heart and placed in her what she promised she’d do. “He poured words and melodies into my spirit and I became not a student, but a willing vessel, to write the words of a ready writer.” “He gifted me and for that I’m more than honored, eternally grateful, and pray that this project, “Under Reconstruction… In The Room” will perform the thing in the
hearts of people (Christians and non-Christians) the world over that he has purposed it to do in Jesus name.”

Her singing appearances started at home with her sisters and brothers for my parents, my father in particular. “We had to sing for our meals”, as she laughs. Then, as a young teenager she and her sisters sang with the legendary James Cleveland at Cobo Hall. Estella continued with appearances at Concert In The Park in Niagara Falls, Delta Chelsea Hotel in Toronto during the Carabana Festival; WDIV/Channel 4, The Presidential Democratic Convention,
Channel 62’s Christ Is Your Answer, and various Churches around the country. She’s appeared on WMUZ, at Greater Grace Summer Gospel Fest, Channel 38, Sonshine Christian School, Inkster Summer Fest, National Strawberry Festival, KCOH Houston, Borders, Positively Pontiac, WQBH, U of M, and various other venues around the country.

Estella has traveled nationwide appearing in various theatre productions such as: “For Colored Girls Only”, at the South Coast Repertory Theater; Orange County California; “A Tribute To Black History” at The Los Angeles Theater Center; “The Lorraine Hansberry Story”, as Lorraine Hansberry; “The Final Word” featuring Burrell Bailey, Karen Clark & Clifton Davis at Chicago’s Regal Theatre and the Music Hall, and The Paul Roberson Theatre in “Shakin The Mess Outta Misery." She studied theatre in California under Bill Duke along with Danny Glover, Martha Reeves, and others. She also studied under Pamela Campus, Regenia Wimbush, and Adelline Hunter/Director (South Coast Repertory Theatre).

Estella Chambers is not afraid to let good music happen. This talented and soulful singer/songwriter has created something special. Her message is inspirational, her lyrics uplifting, and her music always diverse. Estella mixes a unique blend of musical styles. This recording has a contemporary vitality about it without sacrificing Estella’s spiritual convictions. While paying homage to the great
gospel tradition. Estella imprints her signature sound into the spiritual undertow. Her standard of songwriting is consistently high, making this Michigan diamond in the rough a must hear. Estella’s single and sophomore release titled, “I Thought You Knew” is a prelude to the full release,
“Under Reconstruction … In the Room” targeted for mid 2005. The single was released in Nov. ’04 and debuted at the Greater Grace Temple of Detroit during the Sixth Annual Anniversary Gala of the Gospel Connection Magazine.
